For taller varieties, effective staking is vital to prevent them from toppling over. Place sturdy stakes about 3 inches from the base of each flower, and as they grow, loosely secure the stems to the stakes. Additionally, if planting only a few dahlias you could consider using tomato cages that correspond to the height of your flowers, either 3 or 4 feet tall for added support. This method not only supports the plants but also promotes their overall health throughout the growing season
